Sony Vegas: Paste Multiple Times at Once

Sony Vegas has a variety of Paste options. One of which, allows you to Paste an event multiple times at once. Once the event you’d like to duplicate is copied, go to the Edit menu and choose Paste Repeat (Ctrl+B). The Paste Repeat dialog box appears. In the Number of times to paste box, enter the desired number of times you’d like to paste the event. Then, choose an option from the Paste Spacing settings. End to End will simply paste the events one right after the other. Setting Even Spacing will allow you to set a time spacing in between each pasted event.

Sony Vegas: Customize the Toolbar

You can customize the toolbar in Sony Vegas to your specific needs. To add or remove tools, simply go to Options > Customize Toolbar. From here, you can add or remove tools that are most needed or not when editing. To add buttons click on the new button in the Available toolbar buttons list and click the Add button. The new button will be added to the toolbar above the current selected button in the Current toolbar list.

Sony Vegas: Limit Files Displayed in Open Dialog

You can limit the files displayed in the open dialog to quickly access particular file types. In the dialog window, simply choose a file type to display in the Files of type area. For example, if I only wanted to view all the Vegas Project Files (.veg) I can choose that from the list of file types and only view those files.

Sony Vegas: Spacebar/F12 Play Settings

One of the most commonly used shortcut keys in Sony Vegas is the Spacebar. It is used to Play and Stop the video when previewing certain sections. By default, the Spacebar and F12 keys are set to Play and Stop the video, therefore returning the cursor back to the position it started at. You can change these settings to make the Spacebar and F12 buttons Play and Pause the video instead of Play and Stop. Under Options > Preferences, in the General Tab you can toggle the “Make Spacebar and F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop” setting on or off to fit your needs.

Sony Vegas: Rearrange Plugins

Rearranging plug-ins in Sony Vegas is simple. Just click and drag the plug-in button to place it in a new location. This works best when you need to group certain plug-ins together. For example, I moved the Levels plug-in next to the Color Curves plug-in for faster switching between the two when color grading.

Sony Vegas: Change Display Colors

Vegas Pro gives you the options to adjust Track colors, Envelope colors, Snap colors as well as the intensity of the icons in the track header. To view and change these settings, go to Options > Preferences and click the Display Tab. From here, you can make the appropriate color adjustments.

Sony Vegas: Duplicate Timeline Events

Quickly duplicate any timeline events in Sony Vegas by holding Ctrl while dragging the media over to your target position. To duplicate multiple events at once, select them all and Ctrl — drag them to your target position. Once you let go, you’ll have an exact copy of those events.
